I have a superbly bruised arm and arse after slipping down the stone steps at home on Friday. At least it wasn't a 2nd floor balcony in Cyprus like some people... Cracked a terracotta pot with my elbow and thought I had broken it but it is just well bruised - I wish I had a digital camera to take a picture of it for here and for my wound obsessed ex colleague. The arse one hurts so much because it is just where I lean on when i lean back (which I do a lot thanks to a reclining chair at work) and the arm is swollen so the skins hurts when it stretches over the bump. If anyone makes a comment about my arse being swollen, I will open that can of whup-ass I've been saving for a special occasion.

In a general state of "huh"-ness at the moment because someone I knew a long time ago has left a message on one of my websites. At first they were being really sneaky in an 'i'm not telling you who i am' way but i think i have it figured out on the basis of their IP address and between the lines esque clues (although their main 'guess who' clue, i have no idea about, something about King Arthur ... urunhuh). The trouble is I want to know for sure who it is but at the same time I have a lot of people from back then I don't really want to hear from again because they screwed me up pretty bad for a while. Big trouble is I think this Ms Mysterio is one of the people who screwed me up the worst. Don't know if anything will come of this messageboard guessing game we are playing with at the moment but I don't know if I would want it to anyway. At the same time, it is over 5 years, I'm a very different person so she might be too so should I let bygones by bygones for the sake of having someone else to help out on my webpage...

It has taken me 2 hours to get to work this morning. Two f*cking hours.

The most arsing thing about this is the fact I live less than 2 miles from work.

As I said, two F*CKING hours.

Dear God! I have diary writing competition! No longer will the name 'spork' be practically the only name on the '10 most recent diary entries' bit!

In honour of my most-bored-author crown, and an episode of the Simpsons I saw over the weekend, Lord Armitage - I slap you with my virtual duelling glove. We do battle* at dawn** !

* Battle in what I do not know but the loser is forced to eat....weetabix
** actually dawn is a bit early (I was in work before 8 today and that is plenty early enough), shall we say noon-ish with a bit of tea and some cucumber sandwiches on the lawn?

Being at work on a Saturday BLOWS.

I just wanted everyone to know that.

I SWEAR someone is walking around the building whistling the theme to "Dogtanun and the Musker-hounds" or whatever it was called; "One for all and all for one, musker-hounds are always rea-dy; one for all and all for one, helping everybo-dy..."

Weird-azz.

This woman has just been in my office and she had one blue eye and one brown eye. Not to be eye-ist or anything, but FREAKY-BEJESUS!

Just been back to old place of work to deliver some papers for this inspection thing we have next week. It was the first time I have been back since I left and it was *eerie* going back. First went to see if I could deliver the papers directly to liked colleague's office but he wasn't in (but the corridor to his office smelt exactly the same as it used to which lurched my stomach - in a good way) so I had to go to see much loathed colleague instead. *FUN*. As much as I don't adore this job, I am so glad I left there - her desk was piled up with work that should have been finished over a month ago and I am *so* glad it isn't me who has to take the flack for her incompetence anymore.

Got big inspection thing next week - a dry run for the HUGE inspection thing happening in November (which is the whole goal of my job) - so trés busy at the moment. Might even have to work over the weekend which will suu-uuck. Still, will get lots of time off in leiu so have a feeling it is going to be a pretty slack April, May, June and hell, July if I can stretch it. Wooh-hoo!

Oh man, I had a good night's sleep last night. It wasn't uninterrupted (when you share a bed with someone and countless cats, it is never uninterrupted) but it just went on f-o-r-e-v-e-r and I felt ready to get up about 7 (although, like always, I waited until after 8 to actually get up). And it was a gorgeous morning too: sunny, blue sky, warm in comparison to last week's arctic temperatures (since clouded over). It was just the best Monday morning EVER, except for a minor clothes farce (in an oh-so-girly way, i couldn't decide what to wear).

Just read the Geek-ware FAQ for the first time (if it isn't new, then I am obviously just unobservent) and learnt that some of us authors are 'work for upcoming IT companies, others are trainee school teachers, university students, and Russian spies'. As I am not one of the first three categories, I am obviously a Russian spy. Will have to change my name to Sporkikov.

A child (son of friend) came into my office today, a *child*. It was like a vicious dog, it smelled my fear and kept **stareing** at me. I am so not going to get me one of those. ***shudder***.

I told its mum to put it in a cat suit next time and I might be able to respond to it.

Do all geeks have this insatiable fear of spawn or is it just me?

Ho hum. in a 'can't be bothered working' mood today which isn't good given the size of the deadline i have in a fortnight. logically, i should sack the rest of the day off and come into work tomorrow feeling refreshed and ready for work but i know the latter bit won't happen so i am reluctant to do the former.

Went out for lunch with a guy i used to work with today to bitch about Much Loathed Colleague - apparently she is as insane as ever and my replacement "is nice but has no personality" (three people have told me this now) so is being used as a bit of a MLC doormat.

Am having some trouble with some statistics at the moment - went to a seminar on Friday about statistics programs but when discussing the pros and cons of each package, the guy failed to mention that all the data manipulation software is worth squat if the original statistics are so incomprehensible that you can't even write them up into the tables. Grrrr.
