Just saw a news report saying the Americans are banning civilian cars from the roads of Baghdad in order to make it more difficult for terrorists to transport explosives around and perform 'suicide car' attacks.

The reporter went on to say the terrorists may resort to other methods of suicide attack such as strapping the explosive round their waist and running towards some Americans or using other methods of transport such as donkeys.

Things brings up one question. Do they do explosive belts for fat terrorists?

I also have an image of a terrorist strapped with explosives riding on a donkey towards a tank.

Watch this space. It will happen. I have seen the future.

nyquist Black who? Sun 12th Dec 2004, 04:17 link
Ok, so the black watch have returned from iraq.
Imagine my chortle when I hear six haven't returned from the place they call the 'Triangle of Death'.

They must have some sort of iq test in order to get into this outfit, just to make sure you're dumb enough to walk into certain death.

"What? Do I want to go to the Triangle of Death. Fuck yeh! where do I sign up?"

I saw the moon in a pond, and managed to catch it in a bucket.

Now I've brought the bucket indoors, and tipped it out, the moon is no longer there.

It is all your fault.

This weeks puntastic headlines related to the death of McDonald's CEO Jim Cantalupo:

"Old McDonald ate the farm, then dies."
"Super-Sized CEO takes his fries to go."
"I'm Leavin' it, says CEO Jim Cantalupo."
"Burger King dies at age of 60."

I hope the fat fuck choked on a bag of freedom fries.

The Bush government announced yesterday charges of war crimes have finally been laid against two guantanamo inmates. Great! Result! Bonus!

After only three years of incarceration a whopping 0.333% of the inmates have been charged. Only 598 inmates to go. Whoop Whoop!

Using the current trend as a baseline (1 inmate charged every 1.5 years), all inmates will be charged by the year 2901.

Unfortunate for us people don't tend to live to the ripe old age of 900. Based on the inmates' average age being between 20 and 22 and the average age of death to be 72.9 years (men, 79.1 for women) approximately an extra 34.6 inmates will be charged before the rest (a total of 563.4) die of old age.

Of course, the real sad fact is those other 34 inmates are likely to receive the death penalty. But hey, don't do the crime if you can't do the time...

nyquist Fucking books and fucking inadequacy Fri 2nd Jan 2004, 11:19 link
Just finished reading Michael Moore's "Dude, Where's My Country" (I do believe edward has recently read this also).

'Ol Mike doesn't make any terrific leaps of philosophy. Nothing outside of the usual left-ish ideology. But he really does do a good job of concentrating the 'facts' that history has neglected to mention into a concrete argument; even if he does have a tendency to occasionally digress into a somewhat 'in-your-face' rant (even this is a mean feat for a book). So, overall, a pretty good book; but it's left me in something of a dilemma.

For the past couple of months now, I've been having this nagging feeling. It's been like my subconscious mind has been pondering something, and I haven't been able to figure out what so I could help it along. I sort-of got the feeling I was beginning to understand something innate about people.

I've been 'observing' the manner of the people I work with, especially the 'sales team'; who's only job (let's face it) is to lie to people in order to extort money out of them. And as my brain cycled over the problem I felt I was coming across a realisation (of which I'm still not sure what the answer is). Something to do with good and evil I thought.

Reading Mike's book; what seemed to be serial lying and commited deviousness on behalf of america's current government and it's bedfellows, the rich and powerful of america's capitalist economy, correlated quite well with what I (and everyone) see(s) in the workplace everyday. You just don't get the same effect until all the shitty little dealings are concentrated down for you.

I'd like to think I have something along the lines of 'faith in humanity'. Not in a 'pat-your-own-back aren't we all great' fashion, or a 'god has faith in us' way; just that through the ability to empathise we have the ability to distinguish when we are hurting someone (emotionally, or physically); or when we are royally fucking them in a business deal, we're not doing 'the right thing'.

Which brings up the whole concept of right and wrong; good and evil. This is where I thought I was going, but it still doesn't feel right. I still don't have the answer. I will maintain for the moment in conclusion, that there seems to be two types of people; those who empathise and those who don't (or at least don't care about it); and here comes the really confusing part.

Supposedly (check the social science journals), empathic sense develops in the first few years of life; when it is important for a child to recognise the emotions of it's parents/family. It is neither absurd then, nor a leap of intelligence to say that bad parenting (esp.in the first few years of life) might be the cause of these 'nasty people'. I'm still not so sure, I might just be going off on a random tangent again.

nyquist Spiders and petrol Fri 27th Jun 2003, 15:29 link
I have a spider who's taken up home on the right hand side wing-mirror of my car. Sometimes, on a morning on the way into work, I like to tease him out by lightly tapping the silk of his web. I then watch him come out to eat the fly that's just landed in his web, he gets to the point I touched and finds no fly. He then turns around and goes back behind the wing mirror. I laugh. What a cruel world. He's probably going to die soon. Maybe if he had some oil to offer in exchange I might be persuaded to supply him with just enough flies to keep him alive and healthy enough to build a refinery behind my wing-mirror and supply a feed of petrol to the petrol tank of my car. That'd make driving to work and back much cheaper. It would y'know.

nyquist Breaking (your fucking heart) News Mon 24th Mar 2003, 08:08 link
Five american marines captured by Iraqi forces are shown on Iraqi TV:
Initial reports from the DoD deny any missing or captured troops by stating "no american troops are unaccounted for".
Well, of course they're not. They saw the footage also; they know exactly where they are....that is, somewhere in Iraq, possibly just 'the Middle East region' being held by Iraqi forces, or possibly just Al Jazeera TV.

Bush quickly condemns the footage stating it breaks the Geneva Convention on the treatment of PoW's. If you didn't catch Bush stuttering half-way through his sentence, here it is again:
"The eraquee treatment of the pee-oh-dubbleyahs is a clear breach of the geneva convenshon. We expect, erm, for them to be treated, erm, just like we treat the pee-oh-dubbleyahs that we captured."
Oh, so you'd expect them to be tied up, tortured, beaten, blind-folded and paraded round on rusty stetchers just like you did with the prisoners at camp X-Ray? Oh, that's right, you redefined those prisoners so they weren't considered PoW's and thus didn't fall under the Geneva Convention. Maybe Saddam should take a leaf out of your book you evil fuck.

Terry Lloyd, a veteran war reporter is believed dead:
In a tragic accident; coalition forces are found to have shot and killed ITN news reporter Terry Lloyd despite their truck having the letters 'TV' printed on all sides of the vehicle. I guess they were texan, or Bush supporters; either way, completely illiterate, which would explain the assasination, erm, accident.

Missiles misfire:
Reports claim 2 missiles misfire and land in Turkey, other stations also report misfires landing in Iran. How the americans conspire to miss a target with an area of 438,317 sq km defeats me also.

Words Redefined:
For those of you not up with the new Bush/Blair jargon here it is. The 'Coalition' is us; they can't really say 'allied forces'; since that would indicate some sort of UN lead force which would make this thing wholly legal.
When the DoD or MoD say 'none unaccounted for'; expect several dead.
The 'Elite Republican Guard' is really any civilians the americans shoot and kill, and then posthumously decide are republican guard. They of course, can back up these claims as while the cameramen weren't watching the newbie of the commando team writes 'Eleet Gruad' in crayon on their shirts.

Protests in America:
In an effort to confuse the public, the American administration pays off thousands of civilians to make a 'Pro-War march'. This coincides with an Anti-War march; all of a sudden everyone gets confused and goes home to watch American Gladiators thanking God for giving them the choice to live in a 'Free Country'.

Oil Prices Rise:
"Whoopee, lets kill some more coalition forces" say exchange markets from around the world as the headline "Oil and Gold prices increase as coalition casualties rise" is announced.

And some final words for those who were switching between the Oscars and your local 24 hour new channel last night, aka "I made this one up earlier":
"Tom Cruise missile found ineffective due to short range".
